The Relationship between Education and Selfishness: The Case of Dumlupınar University

Abstract
The global crisis has raised serious concerns about that education system devoid of religious and moral values, especially economics and mangement studying, has negative effects on social, political and economics life. Some papers have founded that students of economics and business management are more rational, in other words, more selfish than students of other disciplines. This paper claims that students of theology are less selfish, in other words, more fairness and cooperativeness than students of other departments. To this end, the paper examines relationship between selfishness and education in the Faculty of Economics, Theology and Arts and Sciences by a questionnaire survey. This paper shows that there is significantly differences among disipliniaries on selfishness. Especially, studying economics might make students more selfish than other disipliniaries. On the other hand, theology students focusing religional and ethical values might tend to be much more fair than the others.
