Journal Title: Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 4
Abstract
This Article examines semantic structure of the KDY roots and its usage in the Qur‟an. The KDY root, which is mentioned in sixty-three different places in the Qur‟an in various forms, has a polysemantic structure. The root which has etymological definitions like cut, divide, to finish/complete carries different meanings according to its context and the words related to it. Therefore it is important to consider this situation while words with KDY root are translated into Turkish and the equivalents, which are compatible with roots context, to be chosen.
