The study of social and cultural problems of villages converted into the city: Case study of Mal-e Khalifeh in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province

Abstract
The main objective of this study was to explore social and cultural problems faced by villages converted into cities (case of Mal-e Khalifeh in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province). The present study is a descriptive,-analytical study that employs a survey method. The research population consisted of 4022 people. The sample size was estimated as equal to 351 persons using the Cochran formula. The data were collected by administering a standard questionnaire based on Likert scale. Finally, the collected data were analyzed using SPSS software through Friedman test and multi-way analysis of variance. The validity of the questionnaire was evaluated through the face and content validity, and its reliability was measured by Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and the corresponding values for all dimensions were higher than 0.70. The results of testing the research hypothesis showed that the indexes for the village of Mal-e Khalifeh that was turned into city including failure in citizenship culture (r = 3.79), human and livestock coexistence (r = 3.38), artistic, scientific, and sport associations (r = 3.32), the presence of cultural trader in the field of driving (r = 3.80), agricultural texture (r = 3.08), the lack of professional and committed local human resources (r = 3.46), the lack of social mobility (r = 3.51), the lack of cultural centers (r = 3.08), shortcomings and weaknesses of departments and organizations (r = 3.28), ethnocentrism and customs (r = 3.57) were higher than average and showed significant differences. However, the score for leisure and recreational spaces was smaller than the average (r = 2.82) and showed no significant difference.
