Theoretical grounds of linguistic expressions nomination: cognitive foundations

Abstract
The paper generalizes the main concepts of onomasiology and the theory of naming and determines the main notions of onomasiology, namely onomasiological category, onomasiological structure and the theory of naming, namely the meaning of linguistic expression, internal and external form of a linguistic expression. The research emphasizes that the meaning and denotation, internal form of a linguistic expression and onomasiological structure, way of representation the internal form in external form of a linguistic expression show the essence of nomination. The article considers onomasiological structure represented by prominent scientists. Special attention is paid to considering the principles of cognitive and psychological basеs of linguistic expressions nomination. The emphasis is made on the importance of combination onomasiological and cognitive approaches aimed to explain how the cognition affects the formation of onomasiological structure. The attention is also paid to application of provisions and methods of cognitive linguistic in the theory of naming that permits to describe and explain the process of nomination. The article indicates the importance of motivation and verbalization in the perspective of cognitive onomasiology and cognitive theory of naming. The research underlines the importance of involving terminological and methodological principles of cognitive psychological theories aimed to explain cognitive basis of forming a linguistic expression. The paper also generalizes the information of the impact of such mental operations as construal and mapping on the formation of a linguistic expression. The article also differentiates the cognitive and conceptual models. The research regards frame as a structure of knowledge representation. The research is considered to be important as its theoretical principles may be used in linguocognitive analysis of linguistic expression.
