Journal Title: Słupskie Prace Biologiczne - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 14
Abstract
The main purpose of our study is assessment of regional features of incidence and prevalence of thyroid cancer among adult and children population in Ukraine in 2000 and 2015. Assessment of incidence and prevalence of thyroid cancer among total and children population in Ukraine was conducted by analyzing statistics National Cancer Registry of Ukraine for the period 2000 and 2015 (Fedorenko et al. 2001, 2016). The incidence of thyroid cancer (per 100,000 population) among the total and children population of Ukraine were analyzed. These indexes both in 2000 and 2015 were evaluated and submitted by maps. The current level of thyroid cancer in Ukraine has significant regional differences. Over the past 15 years, the prevalence and incidence of thyroid cancer in Ukraine was increased among the general population, including among children aged 0 to 14 years. However, statistics show that these indices have regional peculiarities. The highest incidence and prevalence of thyroid cancer among the general population for the period of 2000-2015 was observed in Kyiv city and Kyiv region. High indices of thyroid cancer were also found in some northeastern and southern regions during the study period, while the lowest ones were found mainly in the western regions of Ukraine. The prevalence and incidence of thyroid cancer among children in the country are noted at a rather low level. In many regions, the oncopathology does not register, or during the studied period, significantly decreased. However, the increase of general indices of prevalence and incidence of the thyroid cancer among the children is due to high intensive indices in some regions.
