Transformation of the functions of a school history textbook as a means of teaching

Abstract

In the article features of the textbook as the leading means of training are considered. Approaches to the definition of the term "textbook" are revealed, its universality as a carrier of the subject content of education is justified. The scientific approaches to the typology of the functions of the textbook on the basis of the analysis of pedagogical research are considered. The dependence of the basic functions of the textbook and the system of didactic principles is substantiated. The main functions of the textbook as a leading component of educational and methodological support of the subject in accordance with modern requirements are analyzed. It is concluded that in the context of the activity approach to the construction of the educational process, the list of the functions of the textbook can be supplemented with a competently oriented one, the essence of which is the need for students to acquire vital competencies.
