UMAK Employees' Involvement on GAD Mandates and Policies: Inputs to Institutional Responsiveness

Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2022, Vol 5, Issue 5

Abstract

The year 1960s through the 1970s showed a significant turning point in the field of gender research, including theory and research in gender development. Since then, gender equality and sensitivities have become familiar to many particularly to people in the academic community. The establishment of different research fora is an important milestone in the filed of gender and development. However, despite these developments there are still institutions which are not responsive and unsupportive of the GAD mandates and policies. Problems and issues on gender inequalities are everywhere, women, particularly in some developing countries, are still discriminated and left behind because of the culture that prevents them from enjoying their rights. This study is a glimpse into the responsiveness of the institution into the GAD policies and mandates of the government.
