Управлінські засади створення середовища особистісно-професійного розвитку на кафедрі [Management principles of creation of personal and professional development environment at the university department]

Abstract

The problem of university departments’ work performance is important due to the transition of Ukrainian higher education to innovative models of educational process based on the new management models that meet the requirements of social development. This brings a change in the role of university departments as major segments of the university. The primary objective of university departments is the creation of a special environment to integrate students' theoretical and practice-oriented trainings to meet the qualitatively different standards of organization and management. Therefore, the basic principles of university department management should be in line with the organizational development model. In this context the mission of the department as a modernizer of educational environment is determination of the main principles and features of the concept of university department development. Managerial activities should include the setting of departments’ strategic objectives and development of action plans for the near future. Department heads should build teacher teams for which the departments will be the environment of their personal and professional development. The author discusses different aspects of staff's development stimulation through their inclusion into real professional practices: research, mediator, consulting, design, etc. An important department activity is reflexive and analytical monitoring and department development assessment.
