Use of Arabisms in German-speaking journalistic discourse: perception and intercultural competence

Abstract

In the following article we try to elucidate one of the most significant and actual questions in linguistics, which is the intercultural aspect of the modern German journalistic discourse. The use of Arabisms as a foreign lexical unities represents some cognitive and semantics peculiarities of the modern German journalistic discourse. The appearance of such Arabisms oblige the individual to analyze meticulously their different interpretations and to clarify the opposite language personality within the communicative context. It’s to denote besides that the intercultural aspect of the interpretations and the perceptions of those Arabisms are very important because several foreign words could be used and their cultural and religious backgrounds are not identical with others language personalities, like in case of the religious discourse between the Arabic and the German language personalities.
