USE OF MULTIMEDIA CONTENT IN THE PROCESS OF DISTANCE COURSE FORMATION OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE. THE ROLE OF MEDIA COMPETENCE IN THE “TEACHER-STUDENT” PARADIGM

Abstract

The article deals with the issues of distance higher education and possibilities of modern information and communication technologies (ICT) in the process of distance learning foreign languages. The paper considers the problems of creating a distance course and changing the teacher’s role in the system of distance education. Effective distance education of foreign languages is based on the use of a wide range of information and communication technologies, which allows organizing a full-fledged educational interaction in the «teacher-student» paradigm. This type of information and communication technologies primarily concerns the use of multimedia education as the basis of modern ICT. Multimedia content is the basis of multimedia learning. Audio and video content is one of the main and effective components of multimedia content. The successful completion of an e-learning course in a foreign language depends on the media literacy and media competence of the teacher. Creating a distance course using a large number of multimedia content greatly expands the potential of heuristic learning technologies and solves some psychological problems of participants in the learning process.
