Web-technologies as a mean of future engines’ cognitive independence formation in higher mathematics learning

Abstract

The article deals with the ways of students’ cognitive independence development in technical universities, it is emphasized the relationship between the success of training future engineers, their professional competence and the level of formation of their independent cognitive activity skills. The definition of «cognitive independence» is defined as the quality of personality which is the necessity and ability to organize the own independent cognitive activity on mastering knowledge and methods of activity in the process of purposeful search, to solve cognitive and professional tasks for the purpose of further self-improvement and transformation of the surrounding rationally without a teacher’s help but under his control. The basic principles of students’ independent cognitive activity organization in higher education establishments are considered, its components and indicators of formation are highlighted, external and internal factors on which the success of its formation depends are determined. The functions of cognitive independency are defined: educational, developing and reflexive. The experience of web-technologies introduction in the process of teaching mathematical disciplines is presented. The project is named «Higher mathematics for engineers». It is a training and methodical complex which is executed with the help of a computer network and specialized software and consists of teaching materials including curricula and means of checking knowledge that allow the student to study discipline and simultaneously control the level of mastering his teaching material from higher mathematics independently. It is noted that the introduction of web-technology in the system of training future engineers allows you to develop the skills of information activities, to form a positive emotional attitude to the process of knowledge, increase motivation to study, the quality of learning knowledge in the discipline, develop the creative potential of students.
