„Wolność kontrolowana” — o (nie)zależności tłumacza. Uwagi do polskiego przekładu powieści Petry Hůlovej Umělohmotný třípokoj

Journal Title: Przekłady Literatur Słowiańskich - Year 2015, Vol 6, Issue 1

Abstract

In the Polish culture of the late twentieth and early twenty‑first century, we see an increased interest in Czech literature and its translations, which are often an integral step in the distribution mechanisms of such works. This article aims at presenting for discussion the issue of translation as an interpretation and the question of faithfulness to the original text, as literary translation does not offer freedom. It exists between artistic freedom and the author’s intention, and it is a forced compromise between an unattainable ideal and practical necessity
