Abstract
Development of innovation is a key factor of competitive position individual companies regions and economies. The role of innovation was underline in Strategy 2020. This document is the EU's growth strategy for the coming decade. In a changing world EU can become a smart, sustainable and inclusive economy. The issue of the article is to show support of Slovakia in area of innovation activity. Authors concentrate on the human capital as a main source in creating inventions and innovations.
