Wu Lien-Teh's experience in fighting plague and its enlightenment to the prevention and treatment of modern infectious disease emergencies

Abstract

Dr. Wu Lien-Teh was an internationally renowned expert on epidemic prevention. In the pre-antibiotic era, Wu Lien-Teh quickly defeated the plague in Northeast China in 1910 with modern epidemiological theories and methods, including controlling the source of infection, cutting off transmission routes, and protect susceptible people. Wu Lien-Teh' fight against the epidemic has important enlightenment for the prevention and treatment of modern infectious disease emergencies. We should attach great importance to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, identify the type of infection diseases as soon as possible, adopt modern advanced epidemic prevention measures to fight the epidemic, actively carry out international cooperation, improve epidemic monitoring and early warning, increase the anti-epidemic publicity, and reserve personnel and materials to fight the epidemic, so as to strengthen the ability to deal with the prevention and treatment of infectious disease emergencies.
