Zioła łąkowe jako składnik mieszanek na użytki zielone w świetle badawczym i aplikacyjnym

Abstract
The aim of this paper was to gather information about herb species that are used in composing seed mixtures on multi-species pastures, used for forage production. The use of herbs in multi-species pastures is an innovative approach implemented in countries where ruminant animal production is based on forages harvested from permanent grasslands, such as: Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark or Great Britain. Multi-species pastures can be an alternative for traditional homogeneous grass and simple grass with legumes pasture mixtures. Additional use of herbs in seed mixtures enable grasslands to produce amounts of forage comparable to intensive mixtures of grasses also in unfavorable environment and habitat conditions. The use of herbs in multispecies pastures can also help to receive high quality and nutrient balanced forage that can contain a lot of different bioactive substances that can have positive effect on animal’s health.
