Zu den Rezenten Studien im Hattischen: Eine Zwischenbilanz

Journal Title: Archivum Anatolicum-Anadolu Arsivleri - Year 2018, Vol 12, Issue 2

Abstract

The research on the Hattian language has been obviously accelerated since the publication of the monograph on the Hattian vocabulary in the Hittite written tradition (HWHT) published in 2004. Fortunately, the facts that almost the entire Hattian written material from Boğazköy is now available in hand-copy editions, and in the last years noticeable studies have been carried on as well, made this less known language more attractive and understandable. Over the years, and primarily based on the information resulted from the Hattian- Hittite bilingual compositions, the meanings of more than one hundred of Hattian words could be determined. However, for a better understanding of the Hattian and its influence on the Ancient Anatolian cultures, more serious steps should be taken in respects of both philology and text interpretation.
