A left pleurisy revealing a lobular capillary hemangioma of the aortic arch

Journal Title: JOURNAL OF FUNCTIONAL VENTILATION AND PULMONOLOGY - Year 2017, Vol 8, Issue 24

Abstract

Introduction. Lobular capillary haemangioma (LCH), also called pyogenic granuloma, is a benign pseudotumour that can develop on a healthy mucosa or on a capillary or arteriovenous malformation. This is a typical dermatological lesion. Vascular locations are rare and most reported cases are at the expense of the veins. Clinical observation. This is a 64-year-old patient with recurrent left pleurisy whose radiological assessment revealed anterior mediastinal tissue mass. He benefited from a thoracotomy with complete resection of the mass. Histopathological findings favored a lobular capillary haemangioma of the aortic arch. Conclusion. Lobular capillary haemangioma is a rare benign lesion that can develop on large thoracic vessels. Aortic localization has not yet been reported. Surgery remains the only curative treatment with a good long-term prognosis.
