A Novel Approach for Efficiency Enhancement and Size Miniaturization of UWB Printed Antennas
Journal Title: Acta Technica Napocensis- Electronica-Telecomunicatii (Electronics and Telecommunications) - Year 2009, Vol 50, Issue 4
Abstract
The printed antenna is one of the most preferred antenna structures for low cost and compact design of wireless communication systems. In this paper we have investigated a new approach for improving the radiation efficiency and performance of the antennas with the size miniaturization, in particular we have simulated two types of UWB printed monopole antennas for proving this approach with results: circular patch and Compact Miniaturized Semi-Circular patch UWB monopole antennas and in detail investigation was presented on size miniaturization in order to achieve very compactness and high radiation efficiency with out degradation of the functional parameters and overall performance. Simple rectangular microstrip lines are used for feeding the printed monopole antennas. This UWB monopole antenna designed works well for the whole UWB frequency band 3.1-10.6GHz.

Resolution Improvement of Ultrasound Images Using Deconvolution and Super-Resolution Algorithms
Ultrasound imaging is a wide spread technique used to view body soft tissues, like tendons, muscle or internal organs for possible problems. These images are achieved by capturing the returned acoustic waves using an ult...
Digital Implementation of The Sigmoid Function for FPGA Circuits
In this paper, is proposed a method to implement in FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) circuits different approximation of the sigmoid function. Three previously published piecewise linear and one piecewise second-orde...
Improved Spatial Scalability For Video Compression
Spatial scalability (layering) in MPEG is not often used due to the lack of coding efficiency and available ICs. This work presents an alternative spatial scalability schemes that have better coding efficiency, and yet a...
Human Visual Perception Concepts As Mechanisms For Saliency Detection
Predicting human eye fixations is a difficult task that usually involves complex knowledge about the human visual perception pathways. This paper proposes a method to detect salient locations using a psycho visual space...
A Simulation of the Perfectly Matched Layer in the 3-D Case
The Perfectly Matched Layer (PML) technique, introduced by J. P. Berenger in 1994, is used for solving unbounded space problems. In this paper we implemented in Matlab a three dimensional Finite-Difference Time-Domain co...
