АКАДЕМИЧЕСКИЕ НАУЧНЫЕ ШКОЛЫ В ЗОНЕ РИСКА: ПРОБЛЕМЫ И ПУТИ ИХ РЕШЕНИЯ

Abstract

The crisis of science and the destruction of scientific schools in Ukraine began as early as in the 80-ies of the last century. By the early 20-ies of this century, the disintegration of scientific communities and the actual curtailment of research activities in the country had reached the climax. The primary focus of the author’s attention is on the identification of the reasons for an almost complete cessation of scientific activities of both numerous research institutes and University scientific schools. Among the most significant reasons for the collapse of once highlyintensive and effectiveresearch activities, the author mentions 7 factors: 1. Asteady decline in financing of scientific institutions and groups. 2. The absence of need for the results of the scientists’ work, the decline in the prestige of science and scientific work, underestimation of the results of scientific activities in the country. 3. The growing interest in emigration resulting in the destruction of the continuity of scientific schools. 4. Extremely biting blunders of the national education system reforms. 5. The growing trend towards the primitivization of society and education especially. 6. Numerous facts of corruption and selling diplomas, academic degrees, and titles. 7. No elementary moral support from the state to those scientific schools that try to preserve themselves.
