AMARTYA SEN’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STUDY OF SOCIAL WELFARE

Abstract
The paper studies the contribution of the prominent American economist Amartya Sen in the theory of social welfare. The study considers achievements of economist in determining and measuring individual well-being. In this connection, the paper focuses on the construction the economist of the indices of social welfare and poverty. The article analyzes the theoretical work of Amartya Sen on social welfare and sets out the main ideas that would be appropriate to use in formulating the tasks of economic policy in Ukraine.
