Journal Title: Наукові праці. Серія "Філологія. Мовознавство" - Year 2016, Vol 278, Issue 266
Abstract
Language is the phenomenon of culture that reflects the mentality of the people, the energy source code of each ethnic group. Linguistic picture of the world reflects the human world, represents the worldview, the outlook and the attitude of each ethnic group. None linguistic problem can be solved if linguistics does not rise to the understanding of a language as «an activity of the spirit.» An opportunity to see a national-cultural specificity appears most consistently in a certain ethnic group. Such vocabulary takes an important place in V. Dahl’s Dictionary, who consistently fixed the Ukrainianisms first of all the ekzotyzms. The purpose of the article is to show the classical linguistics methodological position, the relationship between a language and a «spirit of people»; V. Dahl’s lexicographical masterpiece was reproduced in the nineteenth century, which was designed on the fact of borrowing as a result of Russian Ukrainianisms appropriate language contacts. Up to now it hasn’t been the subject of a separate study. This is the novelty of a scientific research. So, in the Ukrainian linguistics V. Dahl’s Dictionary hasn’t been sufficiently investigated in terms of the donor consideration features of the Ukrainian language which lended a lot of Russian lexical units as a result of a cross-breeding (metysatsia), a relevant interaction. The originality of the proposed dictionary is precisely a consistent representation of a national-cultural specificity, a national component that is the part of the lexical meaning, reproducing the relevant connotation pragmatics in general. Giving the interpretation of the word the compiler also offers the reflections on the possible etymology of the word. The lexicographer consistently proves that the language of people is closely linked to their life, reflects contacts with neighbouring nations, their languages and cultures, respectively the process of borrowing of the language units, including a considerable number of the Ukrainianisms. As a carrier of collective linguistic knowledge the lexicographer intuitively recorded the elements of the anthropocentric worldview model. That is why it became an objective source of a linguistic and cultural language description. The perspective study is to systematize the Ukrainianisms which are recorded in Dahl’s Dictionary, to create a database dictionary of the Ukrainianisms in the Russian language, which will help to show a considerable strength of the influential Ukrainian language, to prove its potential.
