Calculation of Permanent Deformation of Cylindrical Roller Bearings under Overload Condition

Abstract
In order to solve the overload problem of the operation of aerospace bearing,the contact stress and strain formula in the elastic and plastic stage of cylindrical roller bearing was given based on elastic-plastic mechanical theory and Hertz contact theory. A cylindrical roller bearing elastic-plastic contact finite element model was established to calculate the permanent deformation at the contact areas under overload condition.Comparing the theoretical calculation results and the simulation results respectively with the static pressure test results of the maximum permanent deformation. The results suggest that the contact stress and strain formula in the elastic and plastic stage can be applied to the permanent deformation of cylindrical roller bearings under light overload. The finite element method is more suitable for high overload condition. The permanent deformation of every contact areas can be more accurately obtained by the finite element method under all overload condition.
