CHEMICAL MODIFICATION OF CHITOSAN WITH FATTY ACIDS
Journal Title: Progress on Chemistry and Application of Chitin and its Derivatives - Year 2012, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
This paper presents the results of chitosan modification with fatty acids, namely linoleic and oleic acid. We used carbodiimide as the initiator for the reaction of carboxyl and aminoglycoside functional groups. The analysis of infrared spectra confirmed the formation of chitosan derivatives. Their hydrophilic-hydrophobic properties were determined by O/W emulsification and micelles formation in aqueous systems

MODIFICATION OF RELEASE RATE OF SALICYLIC ACID FROM CHITOSAN MEMBRANE
Due to continued interest in biodegradable polymers, chitosan is one of the most commonly used polymers in the field of control release of active substances. Currently as carriers of drugs, among tablets, or micro sphere...
EFFECTIVENESS OF DYE RB5 ADSORPTION ONTO CHITIN AND CHITOSAN UNDER STATIC AND DYNAMIC CONDITIONS
Analyses were carried out for adsorption of a reactive dye RB5 onto chitin and chitosan under static and dynamic conditions in an air-lift reactor. Assays were conducted for the effect of the type of sorbent and its cont...
STUDIES OF GENTAMYCIN ADSORPTION ON CHITOSAN
Chitosan as a dietary supplement has been used in the treatment of obesity due to its capability of binding bioactive compounds. A molecule of a cationic polymer, such as chitosan, may bind gentamycin. The aim of the stu...
STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OV UV RADIATION ON BIODEGRADABLE BLENDS BASED ON CHITOSAN AND STARCH
The biodegradable blends of chitosan and starch with different component ratios were prepared by casting method. Obtained thin films were UV-irradiated (λ = 254 nm) and changes in chemical structure were monitored using...
THE EFFECT OF A POLYVINYL ALCOHOL AND DEXTRANE ON THE PROPERTIES OF THERMOSENSITIVE HYDROPHILIC GELS CONTAINING LACTIC ACID COMPLEXED WITH CHITOSAN
Gels containing lactic acid complexed with chitosan at a stoichiometric ratio 1:1 and 2:1 and 5 - 25% content of polyoxyethylene glycol 200 reveal pH from 2.5 to 4.6. The addition of 20 – 25% poloxamer 407 increases the...
