Clinico- epidemiological profile of pancreatic and Peri-Ampullary cancers

Abstract
Background: From a worldwide perspective, pancreatic cancer rates are highest in Western and industrialized countries and lowest in developing nations. An exception is noted in the Maoris, a Polynesian people native to New Zealand, who have incidence rates similar to those seen in developed countries. Aims and Objectives: To study Clinico- Epidemiological Profile of Pancreatic and Peri-Ampullary Cancers. Methodology: This was a Cross-sectional study in the Patients Pancreatic And Peri-Ampullary Cancers at Surgery department of tertiary health care center during 2 years period from January 2014 to January 2016 there were total 30 patient were diagnosed and included into the study all the information like age, sex, Associate factors were asked by pre tested, semi structured questionnaire. Result: The majority of the Patients were in the age group of 50-60 i.e. 43.33% followed by 60-70-33.33%;30-40-16.66%; 20-30-6.66%.The majority of the Patients were Male i.e. 63.33% followed by 33.67% Female. The most common clinical feature was Jaundice -100% followed by, Pruritus-93.33%; Abdominal pain-70.00%; Weight loss-40.00%; Nausea -33.33%;Indigestion -20.00%. The most common associated factors with Patients were Old age -76.66%; H/o Tobacco Addiction-43.33%; Family history -30.00%; H/o Alcohol intake -26.66%H/o; Diabetes -23.33%; H/o Breast Cancer in Family -16.66%. Conclusion: In our study The most common age group was old age and the most common presenting feature was Jaundice and most commonly associated factors observed were Old age, Tobacco Addiction, Family history, Alcohol intake, Diabetes, H/o Breast Cancer in Family.
