Comparison of clinical efficacy of all-ceramic inlay and composite resin inlay in restoration of posterior Class Ⅱ cavity
Journal Title: Journal of Air Force Medical University - Year 2023, Vol 44, Issue 3
Abstract
Objective To study the repair effects of all-ceramic inlay and composite resin inlay and the changes in the levels of matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) in gingival crevicular fluid after restoration, and to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the two inlays, so as to provide clinical basis for the selection of inlays. Methods The study recruited 163 molars of Class Ⅱ cavity from 127 patients. Among them, 91 teeth were restored with computer aided design / computer aided manufacture ( CAD / CAM) all-ceramic inlays ( group A), and 72 teeth with composite resin inlays ( group B). Contralateral homonymous teeth were used as control group (group C). Clinical effects were evaluated 6 and 12 months after surgery, and at the same time, gingival crevicular fluid samples were collected and the content of MMP-3 was determined. Results CAD / CAM all-ceramic inlays showed good clinical effect in different time periods. There was no significant difference between group A and group B in clinical evaluation at 6 months after surgery; at 12 months after surgery, group A and group B were significantly different in the clinical evaluation effects of prosthesis wear, edge coloring, prosthesis fracture and detachment(P < 0. 05). Compared with group A and C, the content of MMP-3 in group B increased at 12 months after surgery (P < 0. 05); the content of MMP-3 at 12 months after surgery was higher than that before or at 6 months after surgery in group B ( P < 0. 05 ). Conclusion CAD / CAM all-ceramic inlay has better clinical effect and better biocompatibility.
