Abstract
The report is an attempt of systematising the key terms related to the issue (computer games, secondary school students) as well as presentation of research evidence about engagement of polish secondary school youths in computer games. The role of computer games in human’s life is an area of a great interest of researchers from fields of social sciences and humanities, more specifically and especially from the field of psychology and pedagogy. Therefore, a paradigm of the following work is specified by media education. The aim of this research is to identify areas of special importance for pedagogical reflection and educational practice, in terms of changing the paradigm of education. Also, attention has to be drawn to the need for change in systematic and deliberate ‘equipping’ young people and their parents in the knowledge of the opportunities and risks associated with the convergence of new media with particular emphasis on computer games.
