Czytelnictwo książki popularnonaukowej dla dzieci i młodzieży w Polsce do 1989 roku (w świetle badań)

Abstract
The paper is a review of readership surveys of children and young adults until 1989. The author focuses on the presence of popular science literature in published test results. It shows that reading books that popularize knowledge remain in the shadow of mandatory school readings and fi ction. The research takes into account popular science books that usually remain on the margins of young readers’ reading interests. It wasn’t promoted by the school and it did not fi t well in the category of favorite reading fi lling student’s free time. It was rather the domain of gifted pupils, particularly interested in a subject, seeking a way of broadening the knowledge gained in school or in extracurricular activities. Until the 60s, the popular science book remained the main source of information and knowledge. It gradually began to be replaced by radio and television, and later - the Internet.
