Denumerable Word Formation in the Medieval Bulgarian Language Secondary Derivatives from Numerals

Abstract

The subject of the study proposed is the denumerable derivation of secondary derivative words in the history of the Bulgarian language. The material analysed is excerpted from the main Palaeoslavic lexicographic reference works among which the dictionaries of F. Mycloshich, I. Sreznevsky, ‘ Staroslavjanskij Slovar’, ‘Slovar Staroslavianskogo Iazyka’ and ‘the Academic Old Bulgarian Dictionary’. What is observed, the words which have numeral morpheme in the medieval Bulgarian language and they are seen in comparison with the Modern Bulgarian according to grammatical categories, lexico-semantic units and thematic groups. Their word-formation and lexical features are described together with their semantics and system relations (synonyms and doublets).
