DESIGN AND DYNAMIC CONTROL OF PRODUCTION LINE AT TEKNIK BALANS COMPANY
Journal Title: Endüstri Mühendisliği - Year 2016, Vol 27, Issue 4
Abstract
The purpose of the study is designing a production line that can produce four different models of balancing machines to keep with the increasing customer demand. To be able to fully understand the company’s operational processes, observations and analyses have been made, detailed time study has been performed for operation descriptions and processing times of the products. In order to determine the area where the line will be located, a new layout has been generated by observing relations between consecutive operations and confirmed by the company. For determining the number of stations and balancing the line, mathematical models have been generated. First, the problem was solved by a heuristic method and then optimization software was used to solve the mathematical models optimally and results between two solutions were proved to be similar. Applicability of the method in real life was tested by a simulation model. For the line to function efficiently, best product sequencing is generated. Through a decision support system, best daily production plan was obtained and maximum throughput was reached with the minimum cycle time.
