ENQUANTO A CHALEIRA CHIA, O AMARGO EU VOU CEVANDO”: ENTRECRUZANDO AS CULTURAS REGIONAIS, LOCAIS E ORGANIZACIONAIS NO MERCADO PÚBLICO DE PORTO ALEGRE

Abstract
The article aims to show how cultures of Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul appear in the organizational culture of a stand of the Public Market in Porto Alegre. The ethnographic study was conducted between May 10 and June 25, 2007 and was founded in twelve field trips. The results indicate that there are inherent aspects of the family core between merchants’ kinship networks that cultivate ties of friendship, symbolized by the “drinking of chimarrão”, which, although being a bitter beverage, symbolizes the sweetness of relations. Despite the dispute in talks, there is a sharing of the pump used to suck the drink.
