EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF MUTAGENIC EFFECTS IN THE OFFSPRING OF RATS WHOSE PARENTS WERE EXPOSED TO THE INCORPORATED I-131

Abstract

The spread of nuclear technologies, the threat of extraordinary situations at nuclear facilities and radiopharmaceutical enterprises, terrorist acts, as well as the widespread use of radioiodine for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, all this poses a risk of damage to the systems of the human body and its descendants, as evidenced by the increased incidence of children born from irradiated parents. The realization of radiobiological effects in generations is characterized by stochastic and genetic effects. The study of the regularities of the realization of hereditary postradiation effects in the offspring of irradiated parents provides for the development of an appropriate experimental model, which makes it possible to evaluate the possible specificity of the remote consequences. One of the criteria for such studies may be the death of descendants at different stages of ontogenesis, which may indicate an induced mutagenesis.
