Folk basis of collections "Myrhorod" and "Evenings on a Farm near Dykan'ka" by M. V. Hohol'

Abstract

In the article the influence of the Ukrainian folk plots on the early M. Hohol's stories, which have entered the collections ''Myrgorod" and "Evenings on a Farm near Dykan'ka", and also the realistic and romantic features of the stories are analyzed. The mix of different folk motives, and also the features of Hohol's fantasy is discovered. The examined examples and facts in the article allow to talk about Hohol' as a phenomenon of the Ukrainian culture.
