FOLKLORYZM OF THE CREATIVITY OF MYCHAILO STARYTSKYI

Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of folk genres mastering in the literary works of Michailo Starytskyi. The artist is a member of the corypaeuses of Ukrainian theater, renowned personalities in the field of culture. He was a like-minced person of M Lysenko, M. Kropyvnytskyi, I. Karpenko-Karyi, M. Zankovetska, M. Sadovskyi, P. Saksahanskyi. M. Starytskyi name is inscribed in gold letters on the historicaly tablets of the world art. The literary heritage of playwright is very rich and various. He wrote about thirty plays including original texts based on folk sources, staging, processing, which extended the then theatrical repertoire in Ukraine. The delimitation of functions of folk components in the poetics by M. Starytskyi in the main theme of the study. The aim of the article is to trace the peculiarities of folk genres mastering in M. Starytskyi’s drama. Methodology: the works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists in the field of literary study, folk study, mythology, ethnography and art criticism are theoretical and methodological basis of our study. The systematic, comparative and historical, comparative and typological methods of study are used. Scientific novelty is determined by fact that it finds out in detail the functions of various folk genres in M. Starytskyi’s dramatic heritage. Field of application: research materials can be used in high school during study of basic and special literary courses and folklore. Conclusion: the playwright managed to combine organically the folk element with his art world, using his deep knowledge in Ukrainian folklore world. This creative symbiosis provided unusual stage success and popularity to dramas and comedies by M. Starytskyi’s untill today.
