FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF FENOFIBRATE TABLETS PREPARED BY EMPLOYING BIOAVAILABILITY ENHANCEMENT TECHNIQUE
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Research in Pharmacy and Biotechnology - Year 2013, Vol 1, Issue 5
Abstract
Developing novel methods to increase the bioavailability of drugs that inherently have poor aqueous solubility is a great challenge to solid dosage form formulators. Although numerous methods are available to improve the solubility and/or dissolution rate of poorly soluble drugs, the most promising method for promoting dissolution is the formation of solid dispersions. The aim of the present study was to prepare and evaluate Fenofibrate tablets by using a combined approach of Solid dispersion technique and direct compression with super disintegrant. The tablets were evaluated for weight variation, friability, hardness, in vitro disintegration time, in vitro drug release profile .And there is no interactions find in FTIR studies. The obtained results showed that low weight variation. Good hardness, acceptable friability. All the formulation disintegrated within 10-60 seconds and the drug release shows 98.8%. The formulation containing Povidone and superdisintegrants showed better performance in disintegration and drug release profile.
