Ґендерні відмінності в уявленнях про «ідеального» керівника організації [Gender differences in people's ideas of the perfect head of organization]

Abstract

An important factor behind organizations' efficiency is the organization head-and-staff interactions. Head-and-staff conflicts, which are not infrequent, may be due to different reasons but the leading one is staffs' unreasonable expectations of organization heads. Everyone imagines a perfect manager in their own way. People of different ages, genders, nationalities or marital statuses have different ideas. The empirical investigation conducted by the authors found that there were certain age- and gender-relevant differences in people's ideas of the perfect organization head. Thus, girls aged 20-25 often characterized the perfect head of organization as understanding, honest, responsible, fair, intelligent, purposeful, strong, humorous, married, friendly, polite, confident, sociable and active man. The women aged 45-50 characterized the perfect head of organization as tactful, persistent, honest, responsible, educated, confident, balanced, diligent, hardworking, reliable, caring, polite, attentive and respecting colleagues. The males aged 20-25 believed that the perfect head of organization should be rational, innovative, progressive and prognostic. The men 45-50 years of age described the perfect leader as educated, intelligent, hard-working, creative, observant, prudent, organized, competent, economist, analysts, active, thoughtful, professional, objective and rational.
