Green synthesis of Bio-Silver Nanoparticles by Parmelia perlata, Ganoderma lucidum and Phellinus igniarius & Their Fields of Application

Journal Title: Indian Journal of Research in Pharmacy and Biotechnology - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 2

Abstract

Research on non-biodegradable nanoparticles are the fast growing field which has a vital role in Nanomedicine and nanotechnology applications. In this investigation our attention was focused on the preparation & evaluation of Bio-silver nanoparticles in the study of Antifungal, Antibacterial, Growth curve study and anticancer studies. The Ag nanoparticles were characterized using UV-VIS spec, SEM, FE-SEM, EDAX and XRD. The particle thus were obtained in SEM was flower & rod shaped for lichen, spherical shaped in both mushroom and average particle size observed for P. Prelate below 50nm and G. lucid & P. igniarius below 100nm. FE-SEM analysis shows a clear picture of nanoparticles suspended in the solution than SEM. Finally, a UV-VIS & EDAX confirm the reduction of Ag ions from AgNo3 solution to Ag nanoparticles, XRD confirms the presence of silver and a crystalline substance. The results suggest that an Ag nanoparticle was stable in the pharmaceutical preparation in infection site. The silver nanoparticles were found to be efficient antibacterial agents for different types of bacteria. The bacteria studied were S. pneumonia, C. freudi, E. coli, P. aerugenosa, P. luminary, E. aeruginosa, B. subtilis, and k. pneumonia. The associated antifungal effects were investigated for A.terreus. Cytotoxicity effect of the silver nanoparticles was studied using A549 (human lung cancer) by MTT assay. The result provided strong evidence that could vary the concentration of Ag nanoparticles as Antibacterial agent & can make available as antibiotics. The compounds that help in the reduction of Ag ions are polyphenolic compounds in the case of Lichen and Mushrooms and the glucose acts as capping agent.
