Health-promoting properties of fruit and products of chokeberry

Abstract
The purpose of the article was to discuss health-promoting properties of chokeberry fruit and the potential of the use in the industry. Aronia or chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) native to North America. Reached Europe in the seventeenth century. History of its cultivation in Polish is not too long. In the eighties of the last century, the cultivation of chokeberry on the plots, mainly as ornamental shrub. This plant does not make any major problems during cultivation, because it is resistant to pests and diseases, thus there is also no need to use plant protection products. Currently, Poland is the largest exporter of this fruit in the world. Recently more and more attention is directed to the natural ingredients contained in the food, the intake has a positive effect on human health and protects against many diseases. Many studies show health-promoting properties of polyphenolic compounds such as anthocyanins, procyanidins and chlorogenic acid, present in fruits chokeberry. Food industry and medicinal sees strong manufacturing capability in the use of these fruits, both as a basic raw material and additive enriching food and medicines
