IDENTIFICATION OF CONTACT FORCE AND OF ELASTIC PARAMETERS IN THE ZONE OF FRICTIONAL CONTACT OF THE SHAFT WITH A LIP SEALING RING

Abstract

An analytical and model approach for the determination of main parameters defining the moment of friction generated in the zone contact of an elastomeric sealing ring with a shaft with a complex covering layer. The approach includes the determination of the force of the radial action of the sealing ring on the shaft with use of sealing node model and finite elements method as well as the determination of substitute elastic parameters of the lip contact of the sealing ring with the structurally complex cover layer of the shaft. Determined parameters in combination with a set of test results enabled predicting the factors affecting the friction resistance in this seal.
