Ideological processes in teacher training in San Luis, during the first Peronism: christanization and Peronization

Journal Title: Revista de Estudios Marítimos y Sociales - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 9

Abstract

The present article aims at analyzing the ideological processes, due to Catholicism and the Peronist doctrine, occurring in in-service teachers and teacher training during the first Peronist government in relation to contents and inculcation ways in San Luis. This analysis allows to notice some points of complementarity and tension between these processes linked to the occupation of symbolic space, in teacher training. For this analysis they have been used in-depth interviews with teachers trained during the first Peronism, national official documents, encyclicals and newspapers. Compulsory religious teaching in Argentine public schools was established by decree 18.411, issued in December 1943. This decree was ratified by Law 12.978/47 during the first Peronist government, which gave impulse to its implementation. In the city of San Luis, there was a rapid implementation of the new policies with some changes in the field of teaching such as the religious training courses offered by the Escuela de Perfeccionamiento del Magisterio.
