Influence of Neem Seed Ethanol Extract Against the Larval Biochemistry of Rice- Moth, Corcyra cephalonica Staint. (Lepidoptera:Pyralidae)

Journal Title: International Journal of Zoological Investigations - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 2

Abstract

Third instar larvae of Corcyra cephalonica were exposed to sub-lethal doses (0.01, 0.02 and 0.03 %) of neem seed’s ethanol extract in order to evaluate its potential effects on the larval haemolymph and fat body biochemistry of this pest. It was observed that these sub- lethal doses caused a significantly dose-dependent perturbation in the metabolic flux that impairs the physiological fitness of the larva and contributes to the lethal action of this biopestcide.
