Influence of religiosity on the distribution of the value of traditionalism

Abstract

The article is devoted to revealing the coherence between people's religiosity and orientation to tradition's value. Religion can take a part of both a factor of saving traditions, and a factor of supporting innovations. But modern religiosity is rather individualistic and modernistic. So we can ask to what extent the traditionalistic potential of religion tells on the real value orientation of Ukrainian people. This question is significant for revealing the threat to socio-political and socio-economic modernization of Ukraine, on the one hand, and to the role of religion as a whole in the modern society, on the other hand. The data of the International comparison project European Social Survey and the data of monitoring research of the Institute of Sociology of NAS of Ukraine were used to determine the coherence between religiosity and orientation to tradition.
