La educación virtual implementada por la pandemia de la COVID-19 y el derecho a la educación superior
Journal Title: Revista Jurídica Crítica y Derecho - Year 2021, Vol 2, Issue 3
Abstract
This paper analyzes aspects related to virtual education implemented by the COVID-19 pandemic in Ecuadorian universities in relation to the right to quality higher education. It is a documentary bibliographic study that resorted to secondary sources to understand the reality under investigation. Based on the information analyzed, it is found that despite the massive implementation of technological resources, the abrupt implementation of the virtual education modality in the professional training processes in Ecuadorian universities with little regard to the mastery of technological and pedagogical competencies by the academic staff led to the realization of traditional education. Moreover, the availability of technological resources and accessibility by all the students were not considered. Hence, there is evidence of a violation of the right to a higher education of quality and excellence in professional training processes, which is contrary to what is established in the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador and other current Ecuadorian regulations.
