METONYMICAL NOMINATION OF BIBLICAL IMAGE-SYMBOL IN THE ENGLISH MYSTERY THRILLER (BASED ON FRANK PERETTI NOVELS)

Abstract
The paper deals with the metonymical nomination of biblical image-symbol in the English mystery thriller based on the novels of Frank Peretti. Metonymy is a word whose meaning is transferred to the name of another subject, related to the nature of the word, which is characteristic of the word, as well as "the most productive creative way of enriching the language, the expression of language economy; the semiotic pattern that manifests itself in the transfer of the symbols of one component of an event to another, the name of the class of objects – to the object of this class, the designation of a part – to the whole and the whole – to part adjacency within the limits of one internalized situation." Classification of metonymic transitions occurs according to different parameters: level status; Conventional language; the way of adjacency. Means of metonymical lexical-semantic nomination of biblical image-symbol are divided into four groups according to the kind of metonymical transfer: metonymy of beloning, place, attributes and phenomena. The largest group is membership metonymy.
