NATIONAL PROCESSES IN SCHOOLS OF DONETSK REGION IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 80'S – THE BEGINNING OF 90TH YEARS OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract

Donetsk region is an integral part of Ukraine. The processes that were inherent in the former USSR with a powerful force were manifested in the Ukrainian SSR. Each part of the Ukrainian SSR reacted to the changes that took place. The Donetsk Region, which has always been associated with V. Stus, O. Tykhim, and the last years – a hot-spilled live wound, was no exception. The purpose of the article is to study the peculiarities of national-cultural processes in Donetsk schools in the second half of the 80's and the beginning of the 90-ies of the last century. The second half of the 1980's was characterized by an increase in the socio-political activity of the population of the republic. There was a wide range of views and assessments on events that took place both in the Ukrainian SSR and in other union republics. The focus on the support and develop- ment of the Ukrainian language, which was confirmed by the Comprehensive Plan of the Ministry of National Education of the USSR «On the State Program for the Development of the Ukrainian Language and Other National Languages in the Ukrainian SSR for the Period until 2000». The ideas of «perestroika» also affected the educational branch. Students of secondary schools were involved in vari- ous events of a respublican and international scale. On the palettes of pedagogical editions, the issues of transformations that took place in schools were discussed. Teachers have expressed more openly their own views, defending positions. It covered not only the official vision, but also the reaction of ordinary teachers on what characterized the educational process. Significant role in the revival of the Ukrainian language and culture was carried out by the Ukrainian Language Association by Taras Shevchenko. An important event in the life of Donetsk Oblast was the opening of a specialized school with the Ukrainian language of instruction and in-depth study of subjects in the social and humanitarian cycle. Thus, the institutions followed a positive attitude to changes in society. Educational institutions tried to implement its basic ideas with some caution, perhaps with some expectations. Teachers and pupils were involved in the pages of national history, language, literature, ethnography with enthusiasm and great interest, which appeared in a new way to the general public. An important component was the admission of the younger generation to this, as he also had to «profilter» the gains of the domestic society from the positive and negative sides, which became an important stage for awareness and transfer of inheritance to future generations. The prospect of our study is to study the processes of national revival in secondary schools of the Ukrainian SSR of this period.
