О НЕКОТОРЫХ, ИСТОРИЧЕСКИ ОБУСЛОВЛЕННЫХ, ИСТОКАХ УКРАИНСКОГО АНТРОПОНИМИКОНА

Abstract
This article is about probable historic sources of some possibly foreign names (like Belous) in the Cossack armies. The author, basing on linguistic and historic analysis, puts forward a bold suggestion, partially supported by documents, that these names have originated from barons of Normandy as far as in IX century AD, who supported William the Conqueror and moved with his forces through England to Ireland. Some of them later emigrated to the USA, some joined mercenary troops all over Europe and thus reached the Russian empire (the present territory of Ukraine), where they settled and were assimilated there. Their family name, due to its written and phonetic form, was easily adopted for native, though with a substituted etymology.
