Abstract
Current legislative provisions for public officials in Bulgarian Criminal Code are not effective and judicial practice is not able to solve this problem on its own. Hence the conclusion emerges that it is necessary to develop a modern legal definition of public official which should categorically distinguish certain categories of officials. The article considers current problems and makes legislative proposals.
