Multidimensional nature of conceptual centers in the category of modality based on lingvo- and anthropocentric principles is analyzed; basic differential characteristics of the syntactic category of modality are characterized; disparity from interpretation of optional status of the category of subjective modality are defined; differences of language expressive means for objective and subjective modality are shown; we mean contradictory «fixing» of grammeme by the category of method after the semantic spheres of objective or subjective modality that underlines «artificiality» of lingvocentric principle; other grammatical statuses of the category of modality are described. The comparative analysis of concepts «objective» and «subjective» modality makes possible to conclude about prevarication of differentiation modal meanings according to characteristics: objectivity / subjectivity, conventionality of highlighting and contrasting objective and subjective modality that emphasizes declared nowadays an «official» status of objective and subjective modality as so called categories.
