ON THE PROBLEM OF THE APPROACHES TO THE LINGUISTIC-HISTORIOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH OF SCIENTIFIC SOURCES ON THE EAST SLAVIC LANGUAGES HISTORY

Abstract
The article is aimed to reveal the approaches to the problem of scientific sources on the East Slavic languages history in the Ukrainian and Russian linguistics of XIX ct. – 30-s years XX ct. The specific character of the approaches presented in the article, which have not been thoroughly studied yet, determine the subject, topicality and scientific novelty of the work. The methods of the research are based on the principle of historicism. The method of actualism, used in the article, allows stating a wide range of applying the results: teaching in philological departments of higher educational establishments, cultural and educational work. The research allows coming to some conclusions. The author considers reasonable to investigate the relevant linguistic material in the following directions: 1) working out the range of the scientific sources on the history of language and establishing the priority of the works in the Ukrainian and Russian linguistics of XIX ct. – 30-s years XX ct.; 2) the development of the methods handling the written records of the past; 3) appearance and improvement of the methods of studying modern dialect material; 4) formation of the methods of learning the other sources on language history; 5) combination of different sources on the history of language studies. The article, in particular, states that the most significant (first-priority) sources on the history of the East Slavic languages are the written records of the past and modern dialect material; this assertion is grounded in works of Ukrainian and Russian comparative linguists of XIX ct. – 30-s years XX ct., and first of all in works of Kharkov, Moscow and Kazan linguistic schools (O. Potebnia, P. Zhitetskyi, A. Shakhmatov, N. Durnovo, V. Bogoroditskyi and others).
