Abstract
The article presents the theme of children in the Christmas works by Ch. Dickens, N. Wagner, F. Dostoevsky. “Christmas stories” by Dickens published in 1840s have achieved great popularity in Russia. The main statements of Dickens’ “Christmas philosophy” have been further developed in the Russian Christmas literature, which is represented by N. Wagner, F. Dostoevsky, N. Leskov. The archetype of the child in the Christmas literature has a symbolic meaning: children possess a “divine” ability to discover, to obtain spiritual knowledge; they bring the light of purity and charity to the adults. The evangelical saying “Become like little children” defines the philosophy of the Christmas literature of the XIX century.
