OS SENTIDOS DO PAÍS VIZINHO EM JORNAIS DA FRONTEIRA SANTANA DO LIVRAMENTO (BRASIL) E RIVERA (URUGUAI)

Abstract
This study aims to examine how to insert and the designations given to the neighboring country in local newspapers of the border towns of Santana do Livramento (Brazil) and Rivera (Uruguay). We analyzed fifteen stories taken from the both newspapers whose editions cover the period from August 2010 to March 2011. For this study, we rely on historical studies on the formation of the border platinum in the work of the media, specifically journalism, as well as the theoretical linguistics of Enunciation. The results indicate that the boundary is designated in different ways in newspapers in both countries, mobilizing meanings of inequality and segregation in the Journal of Santana do Livramento and unity and integration in the Journal de Rivera.
